In this house…

Dear Linwood Family and Friends,

As I am sure that most all of you know – and have told someone else (!) – the theme for the upcoming season at Linwood is “Faith, Family, and Friendship.”  This is nothing new.  Frankly, it is a theme as old as Linwood – one to be celebrated, treasured, and advanced!

The “Three F’s” have never been easy (ask the various characters in Genesis, starting with Adam and Eve).  They were not givens, even when Linwood was just a youngster.  And, they are certainly not any easier today.  Yet, the importance of these three, for us as individuals, as families, as communities, and as a nation, has never been greater.

Jan and I are continuing our winter odyssey.  This week we are at a Lake House in northern Georgia.  As you can tell we are getting closer and closer to Ohio – but not too close!  A neat Christian couple owns this house.  I love the little “Jesus” plague on the dresser in the bedroom.  It is not overdone, but a real and pleasant presence.  There is also a larger wooden plague on the wall of the living room.  I have seen many wonderful plagues in Christian homes.  I don’t think I have ever seen one I like any better than this:

  • We do second CHANCES,
  • We do GRACE,
  • We do MISTAKES.
  • We do I’M SORRY,
  • We do LOUD really well,
  • We do HUGS,
  • We do FAMILY,

As a pastor, I am tempted to make all kinds of profound observations and comments about this.  However, there is nothing I could say that would improve upon what is already said.

The 2014 Linwood season is a week closer than it has ever been!

Blessings in Christ,
Hu Auburn, Linwood Park Pastor
