Dear Linwood Family and Friends,
Along with earth, air, and fire, it is considered one of the essentials of life. Without it communities, cities, and even nations have disappeared. With it deserts have become places of abundance.
We at Linwood have the world’s greatest supply of this precious resource is at our doorstep every day.
What is this amazing gift? Water – fresh water!
Thus, our theme for the 2012 season at Linwood is …
“Come to the Waters.”
Each summer we gather at Linwood and gaze upon one of earth’s greatest treasures. Lake Erie is one of the Great Lakes, which together comprise the largest system of fresh, surface water on the face of the earth. They contain 21% of the world’s supply and 84% of North America’s supply of fresh water.
Each summer we also gather at Linwood to celebrate life’s greatest treasure – the “living water” that God has provided for us through Jesus Christ. Throughout the Old and New Testaments, we are invited to “Come to the waters” (Isaiah 55:1). We are assured that these waters are good and plentiful. “The river of God is full of water” (Psalm 65:9). Our prayer is that we would all drink deeply of the water of life that God has provided for each of us.
This, however, is more than just water for the thirsty soul. We, as followers of Christ, are invited to be the conduits of this living water for a thirsty world! It is God’s desire to turn “the desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water” (Psalm 107:35). How does He do this? Through the faithful! Through us! “Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water” (John 7:38).
So…this summer …
v We will come, gaze upon, wade and swim in, and marvel at one of God’s greatest earthly gifts placed at our doorstep.
v And, we will come, consider, embrace, and take within us the living water given by Jesus, praying that we then become conduits of this life giving water to those around us.
Let us come to Linwood! Let us come to the Waters of Life!
Expectantly yours in Christ,
Hu Auburn, Linwood Park Pastor
